It was intentional. The Communists founded it in 1957 as a town without a church. They wanted to prove it could be done. And so the church is still sorely missed.
That's why we want to build the Holy Trinity Church and Cardinal Josef Beran Community Center in Neratovice
When people hear Neratovice, they imagine a chemical industry town full of chimneys. The square is made up of apartment blocks. The town lacks a dignified landmark. The new church is meant to become one.
Learn more →The parish needs spaces for diverse activities. However, the church facilities will be available for activities of all people from the area. The building is ideal for hosting concerts, exhibitions and weddings.
Learn more →The church will be an architectural gem. It comes from the workshop of renowned architect Prof. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Fránek (*1961) and has the potential to become a sought-after cultural monument.
Learn more →The community center refers to Cardinal Josef Beran. At the time when the Communists arrogantly established a town without a church, Cardinal Beran was interned by the Communist regime.
Learn more →The church will stand on the border between the towns of Libiš and Neratovice in a place now overgrown with bushes and full of garbage. A playground and park will be created around the church. We will replace the dump with a church.
Learn more →The church will have significant social impact. It will provide facilities for the parish, where even young people prepare programs for others, learning responsibility and mutual respect.

The church construction project in Neratovice has gained attention from leading Czech media outlets

The project gained attention thanks to its modern architecture and unique vision
View all articlesWhen people hear "Neratovice," they imagine a chemical industry town full of chimneys. The square consists of apartment blocks. The town lacks a dignified landmark. The new church is meant to become one. The church will be an architectural gem. It comes from the workshop of renowned architect Prof. Ing. arch. Zdeněk Fránek (*1961) and has the potential to become a sought-after cultural monument. It is a unique structure resembling a ship, Noah's Ark. A person (the church tower) approaches the ship and touches it. The church will be dedicated to the Holy Trinity.
The center of social life refers to Cardinal Josef Beran. At the time when the Communists arrogantly established a town without a church, Cardinal Beran was interned by the Communist regime. Thus, the church will also be a memento of modern Czech history.
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Friends,
you are looking at a website that presents our long-standing effort to build a meeting place for all residents of Neratovice, a town without a church.
A place intended for quieting down, contemplation, calming, but also for sharing and mutual care. A place that will uplift our faith and through art inspire us to pause and listen to God. This exceptional building, which will hopefully soon welcome everyone without distinction with open arms, is for us primarily a symbol of our community, in which everyone has their irreplaceable place.
We hope that the gates of the Neratovice church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity and devoted to the memory of Cardinal Josef Beran's life struggle, will open as soon as possible and we will finally have the opportunity to welcome you in our own sanctuary and community center.

Personalities who support our project and help it gain public attention

Member of European Parliament
Member of European Parliament Tomáš Zdechovský has been our close partner and friend from the beginning. "The cooperation with the Neratovice Community Center Foundation is very friendly. The Foundation is the main bearer of the project and we have been in close contact from the very beginning – from preparation, through searching for financial resources, to communication with the public," he says.

Film Director
Film director Jiří Strach needs no lengthy introduction. As early as 2020, he accepted the role of patron of the church construction fundraiser and has stood by our side ever since. In 2021, when our Foundation took over the project, he actively supported it and personally visited the construction site in summer 2025. Not every project can boast of having a true knight as patron – an honor bestowed upon Jiří Strach by the Pope, which only underscores this symbolism. His patronage adds weight and helps our project reach a wide audience.

Priest, Author
He has taken our project to heart, bursts with ideas, and doesn't hesitate to lend a hand himself. He distributes our flyers in Brno churches, inserts labels with our account number in books, and even wants to donate the entire reprint of his book about building the church in Lesná as thanks to our donors. He is a real driving force and great inspiration for us.
The construction will be financed largely from donations from benefactors. These include both financial donations, as well as already received donations in the form of real estate, which the Foundation will try to valorize and finance part of the construction from them. We also actively monitor grant opportunities and respond to them. Please help us build a unique structure that will serve all people of goodwill.
Yes, that's right. The church will be located in the cadastral area of Libiš (beyond the intersection of Hraniční and Vojtěšská streets), but it is on the close border of Neratovice and Libiš, the municipalities are closely adjacent. From the square in Neratovice, it is 800 m to the new church. The church will serve Neratovice parish, which has a much wider scope than just Neratovice or Libiš. And by the way, "Neratovice's" Spolana also stands on the territory of Libiš…
Directly in the cadastral territory of Neratovice there is a tiny chapel of St. Adalbert. It is kindly lent by a private individual, but has a small capacity. It can hold about 40 people. However, about 200 people attend Sunday mass in Neratovice. Parishioners mostly gather in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Lobkovice, but even this church's capacity is insufficient, we often stand outside where at least the sound from the service is transmitted by loudspeaker.
What is "normal" is always a question of what norm we actually compare the object to. We live in the 21st century, which no longer compares new buildings so much to the architectural norm of past decades, but tries to be freshly original. Architect Zdeněk Fránek was inspired by a whole range of existing temples, but nobody expects that in the 21st century the goal will be to build churches as copies of those hundreds of years old.
Write to us at fundraiser@kostelneratovice.cz, we will be happy to answer you.

The Neratovice parish is truly a living parish that just needs a roof over its head.
An average of 200 people attend Sunday Mass in Neratovice. After each Sunday service at the Lobkovice church, one family prepares refreshments, which especially children look forward to perhaps even more than some parts of the mass :-). After about 15 years, it is already natural for us to bring coffee and tea in thermoses, baked treats, and plastic cups from home and take turns in this service.
However, our parishioners don't only meet at church. Due to the number of events, we established SHM Klub Neratovice in 2013, under whose auspices we organize most activities for parishioners from Neratovice and the surrounding area, but also for our non-believing friends.
Volunteers from our community – children and adults alike – regularly participate in events supporting Charita Neratovice (Caritas), with whom we have established a close and long-term cooperation on many levels. They repeatedly take part in food drives and the Three Kings Collection, helping people in the surrounding area through concrete acts of solidarity and willingness to help.

The Neratovice parish doesn't mean just the town of Neratovice itself, but covers an area of 13 municipalities: Dřínov, Hostín u Vojkovic, Chlumín, Kojetice, Libiš, Neratovice, Obříství, Předboj, Újezdec, Úžice-Netřeba, Vojkovice, Zálezlice, Zlonín.
This is approximately 27,392 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2025 according to Czech Statistical Office data) who have permanent residence registered in this territory. According to the last census in 2021, 11.7% of people in this area profess faith – which would correspond to 3,205 people with this number of inhabitants.

The reality is that several hundred people regularly attend the church, which has never had sufficient capacity, and equally important is that this number is constantly growing. At the same time, the number of people who come to the service on Sunday is not entirely representative, but rather the number of events that our community organizes during the rest of the year.
